ABOUT GHENT
Recently voted one of the 10 best cities in the world to visit by Lonely Planet, they describe Ghent as “one of Europe’s finest panoramas of water, spires and centuries-old grand houses.”
Ghent’s city centre is dominated by ancient squares, surrounded by 15th and 16th century houses, the beautiful St Bavo Cathedral, the Belfry with golden dragon on top and plenty of historic churches.

The Cathedral is a Gothic beauty in itself, but it also houses the famous painting “Adoration of the Mystic Lamb” The Van Eyck brothers painted this unique altarpiece in 1432. It is the highlight of the Flemish Primitives and a milestone in art
history. The old harbour surrounded by impressive Guildhalls is now a bustling quay with cafe’s and restaurants, and is
magnificently lit up at night.
Another highlight is its Medieval Castle, right in the heart of town, called the “Castle of the Counts”, which is open to visitors and offers a true insight into 13th century life.
